“Solfege Music” Celebrates the Artistic Legacy of Jaber Jassim.

Solfege Music Center in Al Ain hosted a remarkable launch of the artistic workshop titled “Oud Master Class,” which evolved from an educational session into a creative tribute honoring one of the pioneers of Emirati music, the late Jaber Jassim, founder of the modern Emirati musical school.

The workshop was led by the renowned musician Aref Jaman and featured an outstanding group of performers from diverse cultural backgrounds, including Dr. Tariq Al Menhali from the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed Al Attar from Iraq, Farid Ben Omar from Tunisia, and Chinese oud performer Guo Zhao. Together, they presented a musical performance inspired by the enduring legacy of Jaber Jassim.

Artistic Performance

During the workshop, the musicians and artists presented selected compositions from the repertoire of Jaber Jassim, including “Sidi Ya Sayyid Sadati” and “Ghazil Falla.” These pieces were reimagined with fresh arrangements that blended the authenticity of Emirati rhythms with Chinese musical elements, creating a contemporary artistic performance that carries this musical heritage to audiences around the world.

A Lasting Musical Legacy

The management of Solfege Music Center presented a special tribute and commemorative shield to the family of the late Jaber Jassim and officially announced the inclusion of a selection of his works in the center’s core educational curriculum, ensuring that his artistic legacy will serve as a foundational reference for future generations of students.

Omar Al Hadrami, Director of Solfege Music Center, stated:

“We are proud to host an artistic workshop of this caliber, bringing together distinguished musicians from diverse cultures in a well-deserved tribute to one of the icons of Emirati music. This event reflects our vision of connecting Emirati heritage with global cultural dialogue and strengthening the presence of the Emirati musical identity on international artistic platforms.”

The center is also preparing to expand this initiative through upcoming creative programs that will further deepen the presence of Emirati music within the global cultural landscape.
